Pakistan’s textile exports are lower than some Southeast Asian countries

According to Pakistan’s “Express Forum” report on December 9, Pakistan’s textile exports reached 3.3 billion U.S. dollars in the first quarter of this fiscal year, and are expected to exceed the previous fiscal year in this fiscal year. The export target is US$13.3 billion. Pakistan is a major country in the textile industry, with a long history of textile manufacturing and a large amount of cheap labor. However, Pakistan’s textile export volume is not high, especially compared with some Southeast Asian countries, such as Bangladesh’s annual textile exports of US$39 billion and Vietnam’s US$38 billion. The Pakistani industry calls on the government to increase support for the textile industry. First, implement a fair tax and tax rebate system and provide more tax benefits to the textile industry; second, strengthen the use of foreign capital and encourage foreign investors to invest in Pakistan’s textile industry; third, Improve the textile design and fashion colleges to enhance the industry’s technical level and industry talent pool.
