According to Austria’s “Standard” report on November 12, Adidas is moving its highly automated sports shoe production company from Germany and the United States to Asia. Adidas said the “Speed Germany factory” will close in April next year and the technology will be used for automated shoe production at two suppliers in Asia.
Adidas first introduced automated factories to plastic processing companies in December 2015. The project met social expectations at the time to bring a small portion of expensive footwear production from low-wage Asian countries back to Germany. According to the plan at the time, the general mass business was still based on Asian adhesive handmade shoes.
Automated production technology now has specific competitive advantages in quickly responding to customer needs and market changes and will be used in the production processes of major Far East suppliers in the future.
