According to a report by Pakistan’s Express Tribune on July 26, Pakistan’s textile exports in June 2018 were US$1.19 billion, a year-on-year decrease of 2%. In June, exports of cotton yarn and cotton cloth increased by 14% and 7% respectively year-on-year. Other products showed significant declines. Exports of ready-made garments, towels, and bedding fell by 3%, 21%, and 2% respectively year-on-year. In the 2017/18 fiscal year, Pakistan’s textile exports reached US$13.53 billion, a year-on-year increase of 8.67%. In terms of products, exports of cotton yarn, knitted products, and ready-made garments grew significantly, with year-on-year increases of 10.3%, 15.2%, and 11.2% respectively. According to reports, the country’s cotton production did not reach the set target last fiscal year, and textile exports are still under pressure this year.
